ACTIONSCRIPT 2 (AS2) TUTORIAL BEGINNER PART 1

Hallo Friends, welcome to this page where we learn about Flash Action Script 2 (Flash AS 2). We started this tutorial to help those who wish to create their flash movies under the control of the script. Flash Action Script 2 is easy to learn and it’s good idea for beginners to start through.

We recommend that, to all who learns this they should have the basic knowledge of Flash Program (Adobe Flash / macromedia Flash Mx)

It is necessary for anyone who starts learning this language to be familiar or having very basic knowledge of mathematics, and also to know how to create simple movie clips on the stage like rectangles, circles or anything using tools provided in this software.

Before learning this the following requirements are necessary to be met so that a learner can learn what we are going through

1. Flash Program Installed in your computer (Macromedia Flash / Adobe Flash)
2. Flash Player Installed in your computer (After installing Flash Program this will be installed automatically)
3. Basic Knowledge of Flash (Drawing, creating, importing and exporting, animating in timeline, playing and stoping and so on )
4. Basic knowledge of mathematics

If you can’t meet the requirement number 3 above, visit these tutorials first and after completion then continue with this tutorial.

I hope everybody now meets the above requirements, then we continue:-

Now, what are these scripts and what are their functions? These scripts command the computer to do something in your movie for example you want the movie to stop then,  can you say by using your mouth “Stop!” and the movie stops? The answer is No!, you have to create something that will make the movie stop under the help of Script. For example you can create the button and writting the script to command the computer to stop the movie when this button is clicked.

Also you need some items on your movie to appear or dissapear according to how your movie functions, for example you create the movie and on the start there are texts that says “WELCOME” and then there is a simple button that can be clicked, then you want any user when clicks the button, then the welcome texts dissappear and other informations appear. So there you create scripts that command the computer to do that. The script has so many functions and the essential of using script is that the movie runs according to your input (clicking, writting, selecting, dragging, releasing etc.).

People may ask you why do you make the script to the movie? The answer is easy, you can create movie without using Script but at last the movie will run but you won’t make any changes on runtime of that movie, like stoping, writting, dragging something, playing. Everything will run as you designed it before and no changes will be made unless you change again in your project and save then run again, but by using script you can make changes as you like according to how your scripts says for example, after i click this button the color of my car in this movie should change to blue, or when the movie starts my music should play and when ends my music should not end. This brings also the concept of games, games are designed using scripts, that’s why you do whatever you like to get scores in your game.

we shall learn all step by step and this is very beggining of learning and any beginner should start from here. I advise you to learn slow and careful each tutorial and you will be very nice in Action Script and you will produce something very much attractive to people. And each step you should use your Flash Program installed in your computer to test what you are learning.
